ROD PUPPET - DEVELOPMENT

First put your trousers on!

If you want trousers that is. The ones that Rodney is wearing are made from an A5 sheet of card. The card is folded in half (to make it like A6) and the two halves are rolled round some object to make them curve.

A little glue (see blue arrow) will keep the fold together.

Glue the top corners inside the puppet's 'coat'.

You don't have to make trousers of course.

A roll of paper or card will make a kilt or a skirt, and you could use paper straws and string to make legs.....

...or what about some shorts to go with the nobbly legs?

Any 'tubes' can be used for arms.
Try PLASTIC STRAWS
or, for a really tough puppet, BAMBOO. (cut the cane between the 'NODES' to get a piece with a hole through the centre.

Bamboo cane-
cut between the nodes
(the 'thick bits')

You can use the same idea for arms but build a much stronger body by using a wooden stick and a stiff card 'chest'.

With a puppet body like this you could fit a papier mache head and clothes made from fabrics

OR...
What about a string puppet - a MARIONETTE. Fasten a thread to
each hand and one to the top of the puppet's head
